Flower Power Resin Charms

Blue Resin Pendant with Copper Flower
Layers are great in the winter. But did you know they're also great with your accessories?

That's all you'll see in fashion magazines these days; stacks of bracelets, multiple rings, and a gazillion necklaces.

While you don't need to 'follow' the masses (I'm a huge fan of drumming to my own beat!), it's a look that can work for everyday folks and everyday living.

While the Fashionistas may wear 15 necklaces with multiple charms on each, perhaps 2-3 necklaces -of varying lengths- and only one charm per, might be a fun and simple way to follow the trends while still following your own style path.

Since I do happen to love to layer my necklaces, I thought it was time to get into the studio and make some charms. And, since it is still spring, I figured flower power charms in resin was the way to go.

If you've ever wanted a real look behind the curtain, here's a quick photo synopsis of my process...

These are the copper 'cups' I use. The hardest part is figuring out
what to do with them!

Mid Enameling - Enamel in middle is wet while the right has cured

Tiny copper and brass flower flowers

Adding the center spot and curvature to the petals

Here you can see the copper and brass flowers almost ready for resin!

Building flowers and preparing for resin.

My work bench, mid way through

You'll notice I've organized my components on my work
space. Here's everything I needed to make the flowers.
(I cut 'petals' off the flowers as leaves on the stems)
Now that I've got all the enameling and flowers done, it's time for resin!!

All my pretties, lined up in a row. Time to mix some resin and go, Go, GO!

It's a good idea to cover your resin designs while they cure (24-48 hours)
to prevent any dust or debris from marring your masterpiece. Here
I'm an upturned plastic bin. It's been the perfect tool... so far.

And here are my spring inspired resin charms, about 12 hours later.
Now comes the hard part; leaving them alone for another 36 hours!!

Want one for yourself? Head on over and check out the charms!
